Cervical smears
These are done by appointment with the nurse or doctor. We recommend
regular smears for women between the ages of 25-65.
Reminders are sent to patients whose smears are due.
COUNSELLING SERVICES
We have a trained counsellor attached to the practice who can be seen following referral by a doctor.
DIABETES
A clinic is run at the practice on Tuesday afternoon by the practice nurse and one of the doctors for those diabetics who do not need regular visits to the hospital diabetic clinic.
FAMILY PLANNING
We advise on all types of contraception. You can see any of the doctors or the nurse for advice during normal surgery hours.
Coil and cap fittings need a special appointment.
Maternity care
We are happy to provide antenatal and postnatal care with the help
of the community midwife. She is also able to offer pre-conception
advice.
MINOR OPERATIONS
These include procedures such as removal of some warts and skin
lumps.
Please make an appointment to see a doctor, to discuss this and whether it is appropriate to perform the operation in the surgery. A further appointment may be required.
PRACTICE NURSE CLINICS
The practice nurses are based in the surgery and can be seen by
appointment. They provide a wide range of treatments including:
QUITTING SMOKING
If you’re a smoker, giving up is the single most valuable step you can take to improve your health. It can improve your lifestyle and finances too!
Please book an appointment with one of our
practice nurses to discuss quitting smoking.
The NHS can help you to quit using a variety of support tools.
When you go smoke free, you are up to four times more likely to
succeed if you use NHS support and stop smoking medicines such as
patches or gum to manage your cravings.
