Medical Receptionist – Part-Time and/or Bank

An opportunity has arisen for a Part Time or Bank Receptionist to join our friendly, supportive and forward thinking Team at Firs House Surgery in Histon. Firs House would be your base and you would also be working out of the branch surgery at Telegraph Street, Cottenham. We offer medical support to 13,500 patients in a village on the outskirts of Cambridge.  Our Practice was rated GOOD in a recent CQC inspection and we strive to consistently offer the best care for our patients.

The role will include general receptionist duties, including dealing with patient queries and bookings, management of patient records and dealing with incoming and outgoing surgery communications.

Apprentice Receptionist – Full-Time – 36 hours per week

Firs House Surgery are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic Apprentice Receptionist to join our team. 

Working on Reception is the frontline of the surgery, you’ll be dealing with a number of challenges with every day being different. Working as part of a supportive and friendly team you’ll help provide a positive, professional and compassionate service to our patients.   You will be required to answer the telephone and deal with enquiries in a polite and efficient manner, as well as man the front desk receiving patients so excellent verbal and written communication skills is essential.  You will also need to be efficient when working with computers and organised as all patient documentation will need to be recorded efficiently and confidentiality, so good ICT skills are a must.

Working week
Mon - Thur 8:00-13:00hrs, 14:00-18:00hrs (13:00-14:00hrs lunch break).
Total hours per week: 36.00

Weekly wage
£162.00   

Expected duration
Minimum of 18 months leading to a permanent career with progression for the right Apprentice.

Apprenticeship level
Standard Level Apprenticeship- Level 2 Diploma in Customer Service

Future prospects

  • Outside of the qualification, you will be given full support and structured training with the aim to eventually become a fully integrated and independent member of the team. 
  • The opportunity of permanent employment upon successful completion of your apprenticeship and investment into further training.
  • Salary increase after the first 12 months.
